Hi,
I am an EFL and German teacher at a secondary school in Portugal. I would like to join this group because I am interested in learning more about blogging in education.

Hi Joao, Thanks for saving links for me in delicious! It is great to have a place to share. I really liked TeachersFirst because there are so many useful resources and ideas :)
Hi Nina,
Thank you for sharing your experience. You mentioned a point that we teachers should bear in mind before trying to use blogs or other social software with students. I am referring to the need to expose students to these tools before asking them to use them. I think, I have learned this from the discussion during the SMILT08 workshop. If students see, read and comment on other students' blogs before, it's more likely that they feel more motivated to use blogs themselves afterwards.
Hi Joao!
Yes, it's a vital question while exploring blogging how to engage students through, and mostly motivate them when there is still no fast Internet connection at the uni. Anyway, after introducing blogs and web 2.0 tools at the conferences (students' conferences I mean) they seem to be rather interested in this. I guess that mutual collaborative projects might be the most motivating for them.
Yes, that sounds good. Discussing a few practical ideas about how to engage students through blogging would be interesting for me. Reading about everyone's experience about it would certainly be enriching for all of us.
Well, I'm getting set to travel, but I'll think about it. Maybe we could have topics about connecting and engaging students through blogging, which is the hardest part to achieve, but we could go for practical ideas. I read your blog post about it and thought we could explore it here.
Thank you Carla. I don't know exactly what I would like to discuss here. Anything that's interesting, I guess. :-) What would you be interested in discussing?
