Cristina Costa has just pubished a fantastic account of why digifolios on slideshare - I think it really helps to focalise the work I'm trying to do with my University students. I've downloaded it onto a CD to give to my electronically-challenged colleagues as part of an ongoing "conversion campaign" in my department ! - thanks Cristina Continue
I got the link to this podcast via G. Siemens newsletter - and I just thought I should share it with you. I find Prof. Herminia's perspective quite interesting. It would be good to get your views on it too.
Networking is indeed really important...I find it vital to my activity. It has determined as how I have been developing my learning style (constantly adapting and adopting to a reality in motion).
Networking is becoming more and m… Continue

I have decided to take part in the Comment Challenge! I just signed up last night. Although I have been using the comment tracking tool, CoComment for a few months, I just found that it is possible to create groups in CoComment. There is a Comment Challenge CoComment group, so all those who are participating in the challenge can explore and keep track of each other's comments.
I thought that the group func… Continue

I'd recommend anyone interested in seeing how the dynamics of conversations can work in the comment area of our blogs to join this wonderful group who's welcoming new bloggers. The challenge starts today, May 1st, and I've already joined to see what happens and to see new possibilities to engage people in conversations in our blogs.
Hope to see you there!

My blog that was put on hold became accessible again about a week ago. Although I'm glad to have the stigma of a violation of terms-of-service notice removed, I'm frustrated that it took so long for this to happen.
For a while, instead of deleting spam e-mail, I was sending these messages to a government spam-reporting office. Do you suppose this was the cause of the blog's being put on hold? Who knows? If so, it's odd that the one reporting spam is the one who was penalized! Continue
You might me wondering where I have been. Sometimes I disappear for a while, but then I surface again! It is just me!
There are weeks more complicated than others, but I thoroughly enjoy to interact with you all.
Look at this great space Carla has just created. Terrific! Nothing else was to be expected from her.
How's the blogging going?
I keep blogging. It is a way of "releasing" the energy, and also of confirming what I have been learning, and re-learning too. ;-)

I would like to share my handout from my presentation at the TESOL EV Fair in New York. The presentation was about a project in one of my classes last year. Using Chinswing, we collected voice messages and used them for authentic listening practice; also, students and guests interacted through text on our class blog.
Please let me know your impressions. How else might Chinswing be used with English language learners? How could the conversation be extended further through the blog or other onlin… Continue
My students and I have explored Voicethread - and created a couple of presentations on different topics you might find interesting and fun to watch (Check on my blog HERE)! For teachers: I have also uploaded a lesson plan you can find on my TeacherWe… Continue
João has been a handful of wonderful resources. Thanks, João, for so much generosity.
Just yesterday he pointed to a very interesting reading which is totally related to my own reasoning, questioning about blogging.
For those who don't know me, I edit a carnival/journal of the best blog articles about active learning at all levels of education. People submit articles and I pull them together once a month. I am looking for guest editors. Take a look at the latest edition at http://activelearningcarnival.blogspot.com/Continue
An article I wrote about blogging has just been published at the latest edition of TESL-EJ.

How do you view blogging? What are the main challenges to blog in your setting? What strategies can you think of to make blogging a successful experience in the classroom?
Also, you'll have the chan… Continue
I can´t recall where I found this site but had a great time playing with it. First I made a flipbook to present FAMILY vocab to my basic 1 students.
http://www.flip.com/people/flipbooks/414962
Then I made a flipbook with a preset template in order to introduce myself. I guess this could be used in a first-day class or even ask sts to make one about themselves. It takes some time but you feel quite good after you´ve finished your presenta… Continue

In the post I made earlier today, I wrote about the notice I received from Blogger and how I felt about it.
Now, however, I suspect (though I'm not sure) that maybe what happened was my own fault.
I manage the website for a professional organization in Arizona; it has a "Contact us" section. For contacting the organization by e-mail, this section used to have a Web-based contact form that redirected messages to me via cgi.
Two or three months ago, I started receiving a lot of spam; some of it… Continue
About a week ago, I started a new blog, "International Conversations," on Blogger. I created the blog because a student from another project I'm involved in posted a message to one of my "theme" blogs ("Inspirations") and I didn't really want general messages there. "International Co… Continue
