Earth Day - 22nd April

get MORE SKINS from fancygens.com As 22nd April is "Earth Day", I have proposed to a group of students to publish a post about ENVIRONMENT. The students´ posts will be published during the month of April in their blogs at http://www.pageflakes.com/anamariacult . On this specific day, people all over the world will be writing, reading and discussing about environmental problems and solutions.

I´ve come across several videos and sites related to the topic and would like YOU to have a look at them.

So far I have one work that a student made in Word. I'll try to upload it to a site like ThinkFree Docs. I also know that there is another student who made a slide show and will post it to Youtube but I haven't seen it yet. There will be just 3 or 4 students making something because they were free to do it or not. We will also attend the webcast modetated by Cristina Costa between 9 and 10 0'clock GMT.

Of course it could be earthcast08. I just thought of a unique tag for your students and Ana Maria's, but you're right. They could have a bigger world audience by tagging int earthcast08. There's just one thing you might consider. If they are part of the earthcast08, they might get many replies or none. If you choose one for two particular groups in which the educators are directly involved, chances are students could interact with each other. Ramblings...But eager to see what will happen!

This is of course an excellent idea which every blogger or anyone who wants their content to be more easily found on the Internet. The tag I was thinking about was earthcast08 which the recommended tag issued in this document http://enviroscims.wikispaces.com/space/showimage/WebcastathonFlyer.pdf It seems to me that if we use a different tag, our students' posts won't be easily found. What do you think?

What if you decided for a unique tag that we could easily retrieve the students' post and they could easily find the posts to comment on them. I just made a search in technorati and you could use, for example, the tag earthdayaction. Then, you could even invite other educators in the list to join you. The only thing they would need to do is ask their students to tag their posts. And you could already direct them to the technorati search link for the tag http://technorati.com/search/earthdayaction?authority=n&language=en. It's a very simple way to connect worldwide! Well, just an idea.

Hi Ana Maria,
I have checked your pageflakes and loved the way you set it up. Your students are doing a great job and you always do wonderful things. I don´t know if you remember me, but I have seen your online presence around and I have joined your community to learn a bit with you. I have a page flakes account, but have never worked on it. So it is flakeless for the time being.
Concerning Earth Day, my classes will be working on a blog post about evironmental problems and will be posting them to the class blog portal http://thomastg.21classes.com till the end of the month.
Finallly I would like to thank Carla Arena for making me remember about blogaction day and you for sharing the resources and starting this discussion.
